Reporting into the Technical Lead for Data, the Data Engineer role plays a key part in ensuring Costa’s data platforms are fit for purpose, performant, and deliver data to the business at the right time and at the right frequency. You’ll be working intricately with the Microsoft data technology stack to handle data movements from a variety of systems and integrations, ensuring that Costa knows what data we have at any time, and enabling us to make consistent data-driven decisions.

A bit about the role…
Some expectations from us on the role include:
- Engaging with Delivery Managers, Product Owners and the Technical Lead for Data to understand the expected behaviours of data platform functionality, and to design & develop to these requirements as appropriate
- Work closely as part of a wider energised and motivated data platform technical team to deliver at pace, supporting Costa’s data platform needs
- Work closely with any testing team to ensure timely resolution of any issues discovered
- Building a data platform that is designed for the future, enabling growth and ease of expansion, using industry best practices, and aligning with common & reusable patterns
- Proactively suggesting opportunities to leverage new technologies to support the growth of Costa, future-proofing us for our continued global expansion
- Being part of a sleeping on-call team rota to ensure critical support is available as Costa’s global expansion continues.

- Demonstrable experience in using Databricks, Azure Data Factory and other current Microsoft data technologies to deliver high-quality data platforms
- Experience using Azure DevOps and similar tools to develop and deploy changes in an agile fashion
- Some experience transitioning legacy-style integrations (flat file / batch / similar) to more real-time API / event-based operations would be advantageous
- Knowledge of data cataloguing and integrations as appropriate with Microsoft data tooling
- Experience working in an Agile delivery model, in a fast-paced environment

Location/travel:
The role will be hybrid model with the expectation of being in the Sofia office 2-3 days per week as required. Some international travel may also be required on up to a quarterly basis e.g. to the UK to participate in face-to-face planning meetings with our central digital teams and stakeholders.
